Catfish In Disguise is a visual novel “dating sim” where you play as a monster hunter taking a... different approach to the job.

You take a mask on a dating app and catfish monsters from classic Philippine folklore in order to deem them as threat or... tolerable. Ask the right questions, learn the monster’s lore, find their fatal weaknesses, all in the name of getting your justice.

In a world where society is slowly accepting monsters into their community, Em Cee, a monster hunter, is tasked to examine three monsters in the Philippines. Along the way, you must decide whether they’d be a friend or foe to society through the strategy of playing out a date. If they pose no danger, then you can spare them. If they pose a danger, then you may slaughter them before they can cause anyone harm. But beware, you must guess correctly what kind of monster you plan to kill unless you wish the knife to be turned on you instead.

This tale indulges into the culture it explores, carrying over words and social customs within its storytelling. It weaves its narrative through the still-living mythology of the filipino people, designs inspired by the traditional and modern alike!
